Ba Na Hills Guide: Golden Bridge, Tickets, and Tips (2026)
Ba Na Hills is a mountain resort at 1,487 metres above sea level in the Truong Son mountain range, 40 kilometres west of Da Nang, Vietnam. It is home to the Golden Bridge — a pedestrian walkway held by two enormous stone hands, opened in 2018 and one of the most widely photographed structures in Southeast Asia. Ba Na Hills is reached by the world’s longest single-track cable car system (5,801 metres, a Guinness World Record), which climbs through multiple microclimates from tropical lowland forest to cool mountain fog. The resort receives over 3 million visitors per year and is Da Nang’s single most visited attraction. This guide covers tickets, what to see, how to plan your visit, and how to make the most of your day in 2026.

The Golden Bridge
The Golden Bridge (Cau Vang) is Ba Na Hills’ defining attraction — a 150-metre pedestrian walkway at 1,400 metres elevation, appearing to be held aloft by two enormous stone hands emerging from the hillside. Designed by Vietnamese architecture firm TA Landscape Architecture and opened in June 2018, the bridge was conceived to look as if it had been drawn from the hands of the gods out of the mountain rock. The “stone” hands are actually wire-mesh frames covered in fibreglass, designed to look weathered and ancient.
The bridge connects two garden terraces and offers 360-degree views of the Truong Son mountain range — on clear days, the South China Sea and Da Nang city are visible in the distance. The Golden Bridge can be crowded at midday; early morning (before 9:00 AM) or late afternoon (after 3:00 PM) visits offer significantly shorter queues and better photography light. The bridge is included in the standard Ba Na Hills ticket — no separate entry fee.
What to See and Do at Ba Na Hills
The Cable Car Journey
The cable car ride itself is a major part of the Ba Na Hills experience. The Debay cable car (the original, built 2009) runs from the base station at an elevation of 80 metres to the mid-station at 1,368 metres — a 5,801-metre journey through multiple climate zones. The Morin cable car continues from the mid-station to the summit. Gondolas hold 30 passengers and have glass floors on some models. The views of the mountain rainforest below are spectacular.

French Village (Le Jardin D’Amour)
The French Village at the summit is a recreation of a French mountain town — cobblestone squares, European-style buildings, wine bars, and flower gardens designed to evoke early 20th-century France when Ba Na Hills was a hill station for French colonists. The village contains restaurants, cafes, a wax museum (Madam Tussauds-style), a beer plaza, and the Linh Ung Pagoda (the mountain version — different from the Son Tra Peninsula pagoda of the same name). The architecture is kitsch but photogenic, and the coolness of the mountain air (Ba Na Hills averages 15–18°C year-round) is a welcome contrast to Da Nang’s lowland heat.
Fantasy Park
Fantasy Park is an indoor amusement complex inside Ba Na Hills — Southeast Asia’s largest indoor games and rides facility. Included in the ticket price: bumper cars, a 4D cinema, and a climbing wall. Additional cost rides include a roller coaster (80,000 VND) and VR simulators. Fantasy Park is popular with Vietnamese domestic tourists and children; foreign visitors often find the Golden Bridge and French Village more worthwhile. Allow 1–2 hours if you have children; 30 minutes if not.
Debay Wine Cellar
The Debay wine cellar was built by French colonists in 1923 at 1,368 metres to store wine at the natural temperature of 16–20°C maintained year-round in the underground cave. It is now open to visitors (included in the ticket) and stocks Vietnamese, French, and Chilean wines for purchase. The cave itself — stone-walled, atmospheric, and consistently cool — is worth a 15-minute visit even for non-wine drinkers.
Flower Gardens
Ba Na Hills has extensive formal gardens — Le Jardin D’Amour contains nine themed garden sections with European and Asian horticultural traditions. The Jardin D’Amour gardens are at their best from December to February when the mountain-climate flower species are in bloom. The garden walk takes 30–45 minutes and provides multiple viewpoints over the French Village below.

Best Time to Visit Ba Na Hills
Best Time of Year
March to August is the best period to visit Ba Na Hills. The dry season on Da Nang’s coast means clearer skies at the summit and better Golden Bridge views. September to January is Da Nang’s wet season — Ba Na Hills is frequently shrouded in thick cloud and the views can be completely obscured. Rain at 1,487 metres is heavier and colder than at sea level; bring a light waterproof layer regardless of season.
Best Time of Day
The optimal arrival time is 7:30–8:00 AM — the cable car opens at 7:00 AM and the first gondolas carry far fewer people than those from 9:00 AM when tour buses arrive. The Golden Bridge is significantly less crowded before 9:00 AM. Afternoon mist often builds from 2:00–3:00 PM onward, reducing visibility. If visiting mid-morning, accept that crowd levels will be high and focus on the French Village and Debay Wine Cellar while tour groups cluster at the Golden Bridge.
Weekday vs. Weekend
Weekdays are significantly quieter than weekends at Ba Na Hills. Vietnamese domestic tourists dominate weekend crowds; international visitors tend to spread more evenly through the week. If you have a choice, visit on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for the best experience.
Ba Na Hills: What to Bring
- Light jacket or layer — the summit is 10–15°C cooler than Da Nang city; 15–20°C year-round at 1,487m feels cold after sea-level heat
- Sunscreen — UV exposure at altitude is higher despite the cooler temperature
- Cash — some food and drink outlets at the summit accept card; most prefer cash in VND
- Charged camera or phone — the Golden Bridge and cable car views are the main photographic draws; battery banks are useful for a full day
- Comfortable walking shoes — the summit has significant amounts of walking on stone paths and steps
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ba Na Hills worth visiting?
Yes, for most visitors — particularly those visiting Da Nang for the first time. The Golden Bridge is genuinely spectacular and unlike anything else in Vietnam. The cable car journey through mountain rainforest is memorable. The French Village is unusual and photogenic. At 900,000 VND ($36), it is not cheap by Vietnamese standards, but the experience is genuinely unique. Those who find theme parks or constructed resort environments unappealing may prefer to skip it and spend the day in Hoi An or Hue instead.

How long do you need at Ba Na Hills?
Allow a full day — at least 6–7 hours at the summit plus 1.5 hours of travel time each way from Da Nang. A half-day gives enough time for the Golden Bridge and cable car but doesn’t allow for the Debay Wine Cellar, gardens, or French Village at a relaxed pace. The cable car closes at 10:00 PM; last gondolas down from the summit leave at 9:30 PM.
Can you see the Golden Bridge from Da Nang?
No. The Golden Bridge is at 1,400 metres elevation in the Truong Son mountains and is not visible from Da Nang city. Ba Na Hills itself is visible as a forested peak to the west on clear days, but the bridge’s details are not distinguishable from the city below.
What is the weather like at Ba Na Hills?
Ba Na Hills maintains a year-round average temperature of 15–20°C at the summit — significantly cooler than Da Nang’s coastal climate of 25–35°C. The summit receives approximately 200 rainy days per year and is frequently shrouded in mist, particularly in the afternoon. Morning visits in the dry season (March–August) offer the highest chance of clear skies. Always bring a light waterproof layer regardless of the forecast.
